Sarah Capretta is the new first ward representative of the Galion City Council. The seat was vacated when Eric Webber resigned due to a career change, and Capretta was confirmed in a special council meeting Monday night.

Capretta is a transplant to Galion, having grown up in Gahanna. However, she married into a five-generation Galion family when she wed Casey Capretta.

She is also no stranger to public service, remarking how her father served on Gahanna’s City Council since she was five-years-old.

“I’m looking forward to bettering Galion as a whole and working with the people to achieve the common goal that everyone is working towards and get more community involvement,” Capretta said.

She is active in the community as leader of Girl Scout Troop 1919, and she coaches the Donley Ford softball team as well as the boys Firefighter T-ball team. She is employed in the community as well, working at Poland’s TruValue.

“I’m looking forward to getting involved in the community, and voicing their wants and needs,” Capretta said.
