BUCYRUS — Bucyrus area residents have a new option to relax and soothe their aching and sore muscles thanks to a new business.
Evolve Wellness Massage Therapy LLC opened its doors at 1305 East Mansfield Street on April 2.
Owner and licensed massage therapist Tania Allen decided to open the business after about 20 years of working in phlebotomy near Galion. She said there was a lot of stress involved in working in the medical field and her new business endeavor allows not only her to relax, but also help her clients relax and live healthier lifestyles as well.

She attended a nearly year-and-a-half long course through Knox County Career Center.
“I really liked my previous job,” Allen said. “But I see this as a chance to help people’s health in a different way.”
Evolve Wellness Massage Therapy offers multiple types of therapies, including deep tissue, trigger joint therapy, relaxation, pregnancy and neuromuscular therapy. Beginning May 4, oncology therapy also will be offered.
Clients also can come into the business to take part in active and assisted stretches. Allen said the stretches are especially helpful to those with active jobs and lifestyles as well as athletes both before and after performing.

Allen said she also wants to educate her clients to better understand their bodies as well. She said many have the misconception that every needed massage is a deep tissue massage.
“I think that people have a misperception of deep tissue, between that and relaxation, because I think people think relaxation is just the ‘I just need to go relax and pamper myself,’” Allen said. “Actually, relaxation has a lot of benefits. It’s a good maintenance massage.”
Every client, however, is different.
Allen said she will perform a consultation for new clients to find what works best for them, including an explanation on the disrobing process.
“That tends to be an area of the massage that most worries people and makes them hesitant to seek massage therapy,” Allen said.
The business’ policy is to follow the client’s wishes based on how they dress.
“If there is a piece of clothing covering an area of the body, we don’t touch that area,” Allen said. “Even if it’s someone wearing socks, we won’t touch their feet.”

Client’s also will have choices of massage therapists as a male therapist will be joining Allen soon and another female therapist will join the staff in the summer.
“It gives options,” Allen said. “Sometimes, a client will like one therapist better for one service and switch to another for a different service.”
She said it also allows clients to make appoints with the therapist whose gender they are most comfortable with.
Allen said once the other staff members join the team, clients will directly schedule with the therapist they wish to use.
Allen said she is open to working with her clients’ schedules and will meet most times during the day.
She may be reached at the business or by phone at 567-241-2210.
