Three crowns were handed out on the side of the fair grounds where the horses hang out Sunday afternoon at the Crawford County Fair.

Austin Burton as king, Sydney Long as queen and Morgan Lambert as princess were named the Junior Fair Horse Royalty for the 2015 Crawford County Fair.

Queen Sydney Long explained how they trained for the skill-a-thon

“You have to be able to talk very well with people, and be able to socialize very well because during the interviews you have to have good interview skills and be able to think on your feet and answer questions quickly,” Long said.

While those in the Junior Fair Horse Skill-a-thon and Royalty had to be interviewed at different stations by judges, the Skill-a-thon began for the Junior Fair members prior to the fair starting with having to complete an essay, memorize different parts, tack, and breed of horses, and on July 1, the Junior Fair members competing in the Horse Royalty had to show two classes at the Performance Against Standard show.

King Austin Burton explained what his favorite part of the program was his favorite.

“I would say that skill-a-thon was my favorite, because of the experience and everything,” Burton said.
