The Bucyrus Board of Zoning Appeals met Tuesday afternoon to discuss a variance with a resident’s building.

Elizabeth Jeffery met with the board due to a variance on setback requirements of a building on her property on North Lane Street. Jeffrey had requested an area variance to allow a 10-feet-by-20-feet shed that had been placed on her lot separate from her residence and located across the adjacent alley. The shed was measured at five feet from the pavement of the alley.

The building is located in the General Business district which normally calls for setbacks of 40 feet for the front yard and 20 feet for the side yard.

The variance was granted on a condition that Jeffery try to set the building 10 feet from the ally and put a gutter on the building to help avoid water runoff.
