Press release

The people of Bucyrus United Methodist Church invite you to worship with them and celebrate this Easter season.  Services are held at the Worship Center, 227 S. Walnut St., Bucyrus.

The Maundy Thursday service on April 13 features “The Lord’s Table,” a drama by Kevin Stolz.  Centered around the communion service and congressional response, this drama draws you into the events and emotions surrounding the Last Supper and Jesus’ death on the cross. It asks, “Is it a time of judgment or a time of mercy?” The author encourages you to “see what it cost God; then understand your worth to him.”  Performers include Dale Shawk as the Voice of Judgment, Glenda Leuthold as the Voice of Mercy, Pastors Mike Corwin and Becky Smithy as readers, plus the church’s 30-voice Chancel Choir directed by Karen Scott.

Activities and services on Easter Sunday, April 16, include: Early Service at 8:30 a.m.; Fellowship Breakfast at 9:30 a.m.; Celebration Service at 10:30 a.m., from which the children are dismissed for their annual Easter Egg Hunt; and The Touch contemporary service at 5 p.m.

The congregation is also taking part in the community services at 7 p.m. Good Friday, April 14 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, and 7 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 16 at the Crawford County Fairgrounds, both sponsored by the Bucyrus Ministerial Fellowship.

Bucyrus UMC is led by Pastors Mike Corwin and Becky Smithey.  The Worship Center is handicapped accessible.  A staffed nursery is provided.
