For the first time in nearly ten years, show choirs from schools in Crawford County and the surrounding area will come together to showcase their talents during the Crawford County Show Choir Showcase. The performances will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Bucyrus Elementary School auditorium Friday, May 2.
The event, which is serving as a fundraiser for the participating groups, is an opportunity for performers to experience the talents and abilities of their counterparts from neighboring schools. Tickets for the showcase are $5 each and are only available at the door the evening of the event.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for all the show choir groups to come together and learn from one another,” Bucyrus Director of Choirs Nickie French said. “We want this event to shine a positive light on the great musical programs in Crawford County and the surrounding area.”
This event, which was originally held during Mike Zahn’s tenure as choir director at Bucyrus, is being reinstated to give community members an opportunity to enjoy the musical talents of area students. It is also serving as a motivational, friendly and fun event for the students.
“The formation of the Crawford County Arts Council has provided a wonderful spotlight for the arts in the county,” French said. “We want to extend that spotlight to students of the county, and hope the students enjoy the work and time it takes to prepare for a major performance like this showcase.”
Schools confirmed to perform in the showcase May 2 include: Bucyrus, Crestline, Colonel Crawford and Seneca East. The list of schools is expected to expand, and a final list will be announced prior to the event.
“I could not be more excited for our students that this event is being hosted in our district,” Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said. “Our district is committed to ensuring the arts are a part of the educational experience for current and future Bucyrus students.”
