The regular monthly meeting of the Bucyrus City School District Board of Education Nov. 20 was filled with excitement as 28 students were recognized for outstanding accomplishments.

The Board of Education commendations are given to students, faculty, staff and community members to show the board’s commitment to showcasing excellence in the district and Bucyrus community.

Individual students receiving Board of Education commendations included: Ashley Davis, Family Life Week essay contest winner; Paige Hickman, Student Representative to the Board of Education

Students receiving commendations for their artwork displayed at the Lincoln Administrative Center included: Brooke Butler, Mariah Candel, Zoie Collins, Jovan Gallardo, Dalton Kent, Logan Locker, Riley Moody, Lily Pifer, Claire Schifer, Sidney Stevens, Glen Welch and Kaitlyn Wells.

Students receiving commendations for their involvement with the GE Bucyrus Lamp Plant Fall Family Fun Fest included: Jessica Campbell, Joshua Gallant, Amber Harper, Abigail Hart, Makenna King, John Price and T.J. Staska.

Students receiving commendations for their participation in the Ohio Energy Project/Leadership Training program included: Chelsea Dunlavy, Mason Light, Cole Murtiff, Mark Musick, Bailey Plumley and Cayte Pojman.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to congratulate these outstanding students for their tremendous accomplishments,” Superintendent Kevin Kimmel. “This is an important component of our board meetings because it gives the members the opportunity to see firsthand the amazing accomplishments of our students and the fantastic work of our staff. It’s an honor and privilege for the Board of Education to shake the hand of each commendation recipient and personally tell him or her ‘job well done’.”
