As this week’s persistent rain and thunderstorms indicate it is spring and that means it is time for some spring cleaning.
The City of Bucyrus is making May 4 through 8 the community’s Clean Up Week. To assist residents in cleaning up their properties after the winter, the city will pick up six extra bags of garbage meaning a total of 12 bags will be accepted on city residents’ regular garbage day that week. The city will also grind brush curbside for residents for a minimum fee based on volume.
Junk items such as tires, batteries, and old appliances like refrigerators, water heaters, washers and dryers may be taken directly to the Crawford County Landfill where they will be accepted for a small fee.
Below is alist of fees the Street Department and the landfill charge for accepting some junk items. These and any additional fees for the city’s service will be added to your utility bill. Please call the Utility Department to make arrangements for all pick-ups.

Small furniture/table $15 each $49 per ton
Car/cycle batteries will not accept Free
Scrap lumber mixed in will not accept $49 per ton
Scrap lumber separated will not accept $20.55 per ton
Car and pick-up tires will not accept $3 each off rim, $8 each on rim
Semi tires will not accept $7 each off rim, $12 each on rim
Tractor tires will not accept $25 each
Other demolition items will not accept $20.55 per ton

Bag of trash 7-11 pounds $1 per bag
Bag of trash over 12 pounds $2 per bag
Bag of trash over 35 pounds $2 each with limit of $5 per week
