BUCYRUS—The Bucyrus Police Department is investigating a bomb threat that occurred at the Bucyrus Secondary School on Redmen Way shortly before noon on Friday.

According to Captain Tom Walker of the police department, students and staff were immediately evacuated for their safety, while members of law enforcement, Bucyrus Fire, and Portsmouth Ambulance established a perimeter to begin assessing the threat.

Law Enforcement, including School Resource Officers James Mata and Jo Stahl (CCSO), along with Crawford County Sheriff Scott Kent and several Bucyrus School officials performed a diligent and thorough sweep of the building.

No devices or evidence of equipment tampering was found. It was determined there was no threat to the students and staff, and they returned to their classrooms.

This matter is currently under investigation by the Bucyrus Police Department, and any information on the source of the threats should be forwarded to BPD at 419-562-1006.  Tips may also be emailed to Capt. Walker at twalker@cityofbucyrusoh.us.
