The Bucyrus High School Quiz Team has been busy competing this fall and will make its 2014 television debut when it competes on the WBNS “Brain Game” television show being aired on WBNS 10TV at 10:30 p.m December 6.

Sam VanVoorhis, Bailey Plumey, Jacob Bloomfield and Micah Vermillion comprised the quartet that faced off against Ridgedon High School in the taping of this episode.

“This is a beneficial experience for the students because they acquire knowledge through the practices and preparation, while learning to work better as a team,” BHS Quiz Team advisor Nancy Fischer said. “The students are also able to hone their quick-thinking skills while showcasing their knowledge and representing our school.”

Bucyrus High School was invited to compete in the “Brain Games” this fall after Fischer completed an application last spring. There are currently fifteen students on the team who meet once a week, and compete in a league of sixteen schools and in various tournaments throughout the year.

“Ms. Fischer does an outstanding job working with our quiz team students to get them well prepared for every competition,” Secondary School Principal Dr. Mark Burke said. “The team recently hosted a competition in our building with other area schools and performed very well. My DVR is already set and I can’t wait to watch our students compete.”
