BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Bucyrus Public Library will honor Dr. Peter Maynard during an open house from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday. The library’s board of trustees will dedicate the staff lounge area to Dr. Maynard in recognition of his ongoing dedication and support.

Board President Kathleen Teynor Fiske highlighted Dr. Maynard’s over 40 years of service to the library, stating that his contributions have been indispensable. “Pete’s commitment to the library has been steadfast, evolving with the needs of the patrons and staff,” Fiske said. She noted that Dr. Maynard has often been referred to as the “Face of the Library.” His extensive knowledge of the library’s history and his years of commitment have been invaluable to the board in decision-making, offering a unique perspective.

Event Details

The open house will feature guided tours of the historic 1906 Carnegie library, an exploration of the makerspace area, a Friends of the Library book sale, activities, giveaways, raffles, and refreshments. Community members are invited to join in celebrating Dr. Maynard’s contributions and to enjoy the various activities planned for the evening.
