BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Bucyrus Public Library is excited to announce its 2024 Summer Reading Programs, set to run from June 3rd through July 13th. The programs are designed to engage and inspire readers of all ages, promising a season of adventure, learning, and fun.
Adventure Begins at Your Library: Children’s Summer Reading Program
Children from pre-K through 6th grade are invited to participate in the “Adventure Begins at Your Library” program. Participants will explore activities on weekly BINGO sheets, earning chances to win prizes and collecting Croc charms for their bracelets. The program includes an architectural scavenger hunt around town and a Flat Stanley adventure project. Special programs will be held at the Bucyrus Elementary School and the Bucyrus Public Library, providing a well-rounded summer experience.
Preschoolers can join by completing ten books a week for six weeks, earning bracelets and charms, and participating in a Rainbow Scavenger Hunt in nature. All ages are encouraged to find hidden rocks in the community, which can be returned to the library for a goodie bag prize.
Your Future Awaits: Young Adult Summer Reading Program
The Young Adult Summer Reading Program, designed for students in grades 6-12, will feature the theme “Your Future Awaits.” This initiative, developed in partnership with the Mid-Ohio ESC and supported by the Ohio Afterschool Network’s Moonshot program and the Friends of the Bucyrus Public Library, aims to equip young adults with valuable skills for their future careers.
Teens can choose from the Reading or Activity pathway. The Reading pathway includes reading 2 YA books of their choice, while the Activity pathway includes completing five activities of their choice. Teens will earn points for each task they complete, which can be used to enter a raffle for several prizes.
Register and Win Exciting Prizes: Adult Summer Reading Program
Adults are also invited to join the summer reading excitement by registering and picking up their Summer Reading Program passport on or after June 3rd. Participants can track their reading and adventure goals to earn tickets throughout the summer. Tickets can be used to enter prize drawings for a chance to win amazing prizes.
