BUCYRUS — Bucyrus Police are investigating the overdose death of a Bucyrus man on Saturday night.

According to the police report, officers responded to an overdose in the 600 block of Hopley Avenue at 10:33 p.m. Saturday.

Officers attempted resuscitation on the 35-year-old man and deployed multiple doses of nasal naloxone and EMS continued lifesaving attempts to no avail.

The Crawford County Coroner responded to the apparent fatal overdose and the matter remains under investigation.

Bucyrus Police Chief David Koepke said the death is the fourth from a fatal overdose this year.

“This was one of two overdose deaths in which lifesaving measures through the use of Naloxone (Narcan). When officers and EMS personnel responded to the other two overdoses, the people were already deceased,” Koepke said.

He also said there have been a total of 10 overdoses in Bucyrus so far in 2019. Operation Hope is available through the police department and anyone wishing to seek help for addiction can call 419-562-1006 or 419-689-6428 or come to the department for assistance.
