BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—On January 8, 2025, at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers and detectives from the Bucyrus Police Department, in collaboration with the METRICH drug task force, executed a narcotics search warrant at 1209 Monnett Street. The target of the investigation was identified as James Shope Jr., who was suspected of trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl from the residence.

The operation followed a 12-month investigation that culminated in this search warrant, which came after several arrests connected to the location revealed individuals in possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia associated with drug abuse.

During the search, law enforcement officials discovered a range of suspected illegal narcotics, including methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, fentanyl, and prescription pills, along with drug abuse instruments and paraphernalia.

The charges requested for these individuals include:

  • Tampering with Evidence (F-3)
  • Trafficking in Drugs (F-4)
  • Possession of Drugs (F-5)
  • Permitting Drug Abuse (M-1)
  • Child Endangerment (M-1)
  • Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments (M-2)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M-4)

All individuals involved are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
