With a new year just begun there was not a whole lot on the agenda for the Bucyrus City Council.

Mayor Jeff Reser announced during Tuesday night’s meeting that the police department has received two new additional cruisers for its fleet with one more on the way.

Reser also said guardrails will be going up along Ohio 98 at Neff Reservoir in the spring. The construction of the guardrails had been approved by ODOT after a citizen approached a council member concerning the safety of Ohio 98 along that stretch of road.

During the reading of the minutes of the Sept. 22 Traffic Commission meeting, Councilman Bill O’Rourke brought up concerns about the stop sign at the intersection of Marion Road and South Sandusky Avenue. He questioned whether semis had the ability to turn left onto Marion Road from South Sandusky Avenue due to the location of the stop sign.

“Even if the stop sign wasn’t there it’d be tough to turn left there (with a semi),” Reser said. He added that he would look into the matter.

The next Traffic Commission meeting will take place at 10 a.m. on Jan. 30.

Three committee meetings have been scheduled for Jan. 8. The Finance Committee will start off the round of meetings at 6:30 by discussing salaries of elected officials, followed by the Economic Development Committee meeting at 7. The Platting Committee will end the night with a meeting at 7:15.

Both the Economic Development and Platting committees will be making appointments for various committees and boards.
