BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—In a recent announcement, the Bucyrus Police Department has outlined new fees associated with requests for video footage following the implementation of Ohio House Bill 315, effective April 2025.

This legislation allows law enforcement agencies to charge for the production of records, including video footage, to help offset the costs associated with reviewing and redacting requested materials.

Beginning August 29, 2025, the Bucyrus Police Department will implement a charge of $75 per hour for processing video requests.

Additional fees may apply if the requested footage is released on physical media, such as a USB drive. If requesters are unable to provide their own formatted physical media, costs may increase. For requests involving paper documents, there will be a charge of $0.10 per page after the first five pages.

The process for requesting video footage is straightforward. After a written or emailed request is submitted, it will be reviewed, and a cost estimate will be provided to the requester. Upon acceptance of the quote, the individual will receive an invoice for the costs associated with reviewing, redacting (if necessary), and producing the requested video. Once payment is made, the requested footage will be delivered via a downloadable link, or a flash drive will be provided as soon as possible.

Payments can be made in person at the Bucyrus Police Department during business hours, or via money order sent with the invoice to the attention of the Public Records Office at the department’s address.
