BUCYRUS—The Bucyrus City Police Department recently assisted Cleveland FBI agents in executing a search warrant involving child sex crimes, child pornography possession, and child pornography production.

Bucyrus Police Officer Kevin Wert knocked on the door of 124 Galen St., Bucyrus. An unidentified male answered the door and stepped outside of the home to speak to officers. Federal agents came on the porch and handcuffed the male. Other agents came to the porch and had a young child, approximately 5-6 years old, come to the door. A female agent then took the child to a waiting police car to stay warm.

The suspect collapsed from an apparent panic attack. The Bucyrus Fire Department observed the suspect and deemed him to be okay. The child was then released to the mother who had arrived at the scene. The Bucyrus Police Department then cleared the scene, and the FBI agents later took the suspect to a detention facility in Cleveland.

No names have been released in this case. Crawford County Now can report that three children were removed from the residence by an emergency court order and given to their father on February 28th. Officers retrieved clothing and obtained a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examination Kit) from Avita Hospital.

This investigation is active and ongoing. Crawford County Now will continue to follow this developing story.
