BUCYRUS—The Bucyrus Police Department would like to remind the community that National Night Out is happening on Tuesday, August 3.
“With the lifting of COVID restrictions, we are excited about the many block parties planned in celebration of this nationwide event,” said Captain Tom Walker of the Bucyrus Police Department.
National Night Out began in 1984 after it was introduced by Matt Peskin, the founder and executive director of the National Association of Town Watch. The goal of the event is to foster a strong relationship between neighbors and law enforcement.
If your neighborhood is planning to have a block party, please remember to get your packet at the Bucyrus Police Department and have it turned in by July 29. Packets are available at the Dispatch Center, located in the southeast corner of City Hall.
“We ask that packets are completed and turned in so your area can be secured, as well as so our officers, firefighters, city and county officials can stop in to say hello,” said Walker.
If folks have any questions, please contact Capt. Walker or Dispatcher Gerger at the Bucyrus Police Department between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. They can be reached at (419) 562-1006 or by Walker’s email.
