A man lost his pants and his freedom after an incident Thursday that began in the 200 block of Norton Way, near Crawford County Job and Family Services.

Bucyrus Police were called at 11:03 a.m. to assist Crawford County Sheriff’s deputies search for a man who fled on foot after deputies attempted to arrest him on a Marion County felony warrant.

After a brief search of the area, near Kroger and north to Harmon Park, Kyle Love, 23, of Marion was located by Bucyrus officers in the old water treatment plant on Water Street.

Love, while trespassing in the water plant and fleeing the officers, had removed his pants and had to be rescued from an open area to prevent him from falling.

“He had removed his jeans, I guess to throw the officers off because then he would just be another guy walking around town in his underwear,” Bucyrus Police Chief Dave Koepke said.

Koepke said Love was on the third level of the plant when he was apprehended and prevented from falling.

Love then was arrested by Bucyrus Police without injury and taken to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office to be held for Marion County.

Love is being charged in Crawford County for burglary, assault on an officer and resisting arrest.
