BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Bucyrus natives Joel Spitzer and his brother Timothy Plumley are gearing up to introduce drive-thru franchise locations of Scooter’s Coffee to Richland and Ashland counties. The duo, known for their background in real estate and physical therapy, is looking to diversify their interests with this new venture.
Spitzer, who currently practices law at Spitzer Law Offices in Powell, Marion, and Bucyrus, shared that the franchises are expected to open within six to seven months after securing suitable land for the shops. While potential locations include Trimble Road near the Ashland College of Nursing and Lexington-Springmill around Home Depot, no official agreements have been made yet. The brothers are eyeing the possibility of establishing seven Scooter’s Coffee locations in the Richland, Ashland, and northeast Ohio areas over the next five years.
Plumley, a physical therapist at Mohican Sports Medicine, is spearheading the search for ideal locations in Mansfield, Ashland, and Lexington. Factors such as accessibility, cost, traffic flow, and residential proximity are crucial aspects being considered in the decision-making process.
The Scooter’s Coffee brand, established in Nebraska in 1998, is known for its compact coffee kiosks that typically span 664 square feet. Spitzer mentioned that these setups often include a circular drive around the premises, walk-up windows, and in some cases, outdoor seating.
Currently boasting over 750 stores across 30 states, including seven in Ohio, Scooter’s Coffee prides itself on their promise of “Amazing People, Amazing Drinks … Amazingly Fast!” The brothers are enthusiastic about the opportunity to bring this experience to the Richland and Ashland counties area, with plans for multiple locations in the pipeline. Their vision includes not just serving quality coffee but also becoming active participants in the local community’s growth and development.
