BUCYRUS — Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser released an update this week on the progress of the Norton Bicentennial Park project. According to Mayor Reser, the city has an agreement to purchase and is raising funds to acquire the Home City Ice Plant and they are now doing the Phase One study. He went on to say that after months of trying to purchase the Freddie’s Restaurant property, which is owned by City Council President Kurt Fankhauser, that the property had sold and the closing was on Wednesday of this week. The Mayor expressed that this was bad news because he feels the area would look better without this eyesore and the city would be better to have a more complete park on this site. The Mayor also says he welcomes a new business that will fix up the building, even with the severe floodway restrictions.
