BUCYRUS — An idea for a television show script has turned into a book for Bucyrus resident Shane Grove.
The mail carrier of 20 years was approached by a friend and colleague to turn his movie script into a book called, “From the Shadows,” and it is now available online where books are sold, including Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
“My friend, John Kuykendall, had the idea to publish my script as a book after I submitted to him in a synopsis for a television show on the Travel Channel. I wasn’t sure about doing it that way at first, but readers seem to be enjoying it,” Grove said while signing a copy of the book for a friend at the Crawford County Courthouse.

He said the book incorporates ideas from another script he has written, along with the podcast of the same name, From the Shadows, that he records each week with Crawford County Municipal Court Judge Shane Leuthold.
“We hear so many interesting stories by interviewing people for the podcast,” said Grove, who is also a songwriter.
He said Kuykendall has written and published his own books and scripts over the years.
“John has been so supportive and just took the bull by the horns with this project,” Grove said.
Grove also plays the part of a prison guard in the upcoming movie, “Escape from Deathblock 13,” which is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The movie was filmed in Mansfield and Bucyrus, including many scenes at the Ohio State Reformatory.
His podcast with Leuthold offers a new episode every Friday.
