BUCYRUS — Carl Wiggins of Bucyrus appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court Monday to plead guilty to two counts.

Wiggins, 37, pleaded guilty of one count of having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony punishable with up to three years in prison and one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to one year in prison.

In a plea negotiation, Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Wiggins to the maximum sentence of four years in prison. Wiggins will be considered for judicial release after he serves one year of his sentence.

Wiggins was given a date to report to prison in early 2021. Leuthold warned Wiggins that if he got into any more trouble while awaiting his report date, the consideration for a judicial release would no longer apply.

Wiggins was ordered to forfeit all drug-related property as well as a Beretta gun to the appropriate authorities.

In other court news, Zachary Morgan, 24, of Galion pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of drugs, one count of trafficking in drugs and one count of possession of a dangerous drug, each fifth-degree felonies and each punishable with up to one year in prison.

According to sentencing laws in Ohio, multiple fourth-and-fifth degree felonies must be combined into one felony charge.

“This is your lucky day. Because of this law you are not prison eligible,” Leuthold said. “However, you now have 60 months of prison hanging over your head. I recently had a similar case. The defendant violated his community control and is now in prison. I have to give you community control. I prefer not to, but I must.”

Leuthold ordered Morgan to drug and alcohol assessment and follow up treatment. He will forfeit a cell phone to the authorities.

Gary Fox, 48, currently housed at the Crawford County Jail, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to one year in prison.

In a plea negotiation, Fox was sentenced to a flat six months in prison. He will forfeit all drug-related property to the Galion Police Department and receive 52 days of jail time credit.

Harold Lindsay, 30, of Mansfield, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to one year in prison. In a plea negotiation, Leuthold sentenced him to five years of community control.

Lindsay must complete a drug and alcohol assessment and any follow up treatment. He will forfeit all drug-related property to the appropriate authorities.
