A Bucyrus man was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a falling tree while cutting wood with family members.
Few details were available, but the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office did confirm that 82-year-old Gale Ruth of Bucyrus was cutting wood in the area of Shupp Road and Mt. Zion Road when he was apparently struck by a falling tree. The accident occurred around 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon.
Ruth was transported from the scene by LifeStar Ambulance to Bucyrus Community Hospital and later transported to a Columbus area hospital for treatment.
