BUCYRUS—Justin Caskey, 23, of Bucyrus, pleaded guilty to one count of felonious assault in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday.

Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Caskey to four years in prison in an agreed plea negotiation. However, the case falls under the Reagan Tokes Act, which means based on Caskey’s conduct, the Ohio Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation can increase his sentence by up to two years based on bad conduct or decrease it by 5-15% based on good conduct. Before sentencing, Caskey apologized to the court for his actions.

Tyler Stepp, 27, of Bucyrus, was in court because he was unable to check into Mansfield’s Volunteers of America’s treatment program upon his judicial release. Probation officer Kylie Sinclair told the court that due to Covid concerns, the program would not be able to accept new participants for several weeks. Judge Leuthold is placing Stepp on community control until a bed becomes available at the VOA. As a condition of his community control, Stepp must report to adult probation daily for testing.

Trevor King, 21, of Mansfield, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs. He was placed on five years of community control. He was ordered to complete a drug and alcohol assessment and any follow-up treatment.

Brittany Ross, 29, of Bucyrus, pleaded guilty to trespassing, a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison. Judge Leuthold sentenced Ross to five years of community control.
