BUCYRUS—The first Crawford County Common Pleas Court hearings of 2021 saw more than one defendant sent to prison on Monday.

Timothy Reed, 31, of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to one count of domestic violence, a third-degree felony punishable with up to 36 months in prison, one count of violating an order of protection and one count of possession of drugs, each fifth-degree felonies and each punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Reed to the maximum on each count. He received 36 months in prison for the domestic violence charge and 12 months on each of the fifth-degree felonies for a total of 48 months in prison. Reed was given strict orders not to contact the victim in the case either directly or indirectly. Leuthold said he would consider a judicial release sometime in the future. Reed will receive 35 days of jail time credit.

Sara Thornton, 29, of Galion pleaded guilty to possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree punishable with up to 12 months in prison. In an agreed plea negotiation, Thornton was sentenced to a flat-six months in prison. She will receive 79 days of jail time credit. Judge Leuthold told Thornton he would not oppose transitional control if the prison requested it.

Robert Devlin, 58, of Galion pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs, a third-degree felony punishable with up to 36 months in prison, and one count of improper handling of a firearm, a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison.

Judge Leuthold sentenced Devlin to 36 months in prison on the possession charge and 12 months in prison on the firearms charge for a total of 48 months in prison. He will forfeit an IPad, telephone, sawed-off shotgun, and all shells to the Crestline Police Department. He will receive jail time credit of 80 days.

John Bowen, 23, of Mansfield admitted to violating the terms and conditions of his community control. Bowen pleaded guilty to burglary, a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison in October. He was placed on community control.

According to probation officer Eric Bohach, Bowen failed to report for office visits in October and tested positive for several drugs in December. Judge Leuthold sentenced Bowen to a flat 12 months in prison. Leuthold told Bowen he would not oppose transitional control if the prison requested it.

Allen Heacock, 25, of Fostoria, pleaded guilty to one count of importuning, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison. Judge Leuthold sentenced Heacock to five years of community control and designated him a Tier I Sex Offender. Heacock will be required to register with the Sheriff of the county where he resides annually for the next 15 years.

Alexis Kouns, 29, of Galion pleaded guilty to felony child non-support, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison. Judge Leuthold placed Kouns on five years of community control with the special condition that she pays current child support as ordered and all arrearages.
