BUCYRUS — Kaleb Mills, 27, of Bucyrus was indicted on one count of rape, a first-degree felony, punishable by up to 11 years in prison. Mills was indicted via video from the Crawford County Justice Center.
According to the indictment, Mills met the victim at a Bucyrus restaurant. Mills then invited the 16-year-old victim to a location on Tiffin Street for alcohol.
The victim drifted in and out of consciousness and woke up the next morning feeling as though she had been assaulted. She called her grandparents who picked her up and took her to the emergency room where an examination concluded there was reason to suspect rape.
When interviewed by police, Mills first told authorities there had been no sexual intercourse with the victim. However, upon learning of the results from the hospital examination, Mills then said the sex was consensual.
Judge Sean Leuthold set bond at $500,000. Attorney Grant Garverick was appointed to represent Mills.
Delilah Stevens, 22, currently on judicial release from prison appeared before Judge Leuthold on Monday to answer the charge of violating the conditions of her community control.
According to Probation Officer Mark Wurm, Stevens violated her probation by both failing to provide the address of her residence and consuming alcohol.
Leuthold ordered Stevens to remain in custody at the Crawford County Justice Center until she can be placed in a community-based correction facility. Leuthold told Stevens she will be placed in the Crosswaeh facility in Tiffin.
“You’re young and I’m going to take this extra step with you,” Leuthold said. “You’ll be on lockdown. But this is your last chance. I expect you to take full advantage of everything they offer.”
Todd Donaldson, 50, of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to the improper handling of a firearm, a fourth-degree felony and possession of drug paraphernalia, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Donaldson will spend the next five years on community control. If Donaldson violates the terms and conditions of community control, he is then subject to 18 months in prison.
“You were born in 1968,” Leuthold said. “Man, you are too old to be doing stuff like this.”
