BUCYRUS — A Bucyrus man appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday to plead guilty to complicity, a third-degree felony punishable with up to 36 months in prison.

Deondre Adams, 24, was originally charged with a second-degree felony of complicity but in a plea negotiation, the charge was reduced to a third-degree felony.

Common Pleas Judge Sean Leuthold enforced the plea and sentenced Adams to 36 months in prison. He will receive 40 days of jail time credit and has the possibility of judicial release later.

In other court action, Brandon Tuttle, 22, of Shelby pleaded guilty to violating the terms and conditions of his community control. According to probation officer Kylie Sinclair, Tuttle tested positive for meth and meth amphetamines after a routine drug screen on October 18 and tested positive for alcohol on the same date.

Tuttle was placed on community control on October 4 after pleading guilty to one count of theft, a third-degree felony punishable with up to 36 months in prison.

Leuthold reimposed his 36-month prison sentence, but Tuttle could receive a judicial release in the future.

Clifford Stanley, 33, of Bucyrus will spend the next eight months in prison after admitting he violated the terms and conditions of his community control. Stanley failed to appear for office visits after he was placed on community control in August when he pleaded guilty to possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to a year in prison.

When arrested on October 28, he tested positive for fentanyl, morphine and marijuana. Leuthold imposed the flat eight-month sentence recommended and said he would not oppose transitional control if the state requested it.

Joshua Gottfried, 30, of Galion was sentenced to the Crosswaeh Community Based Correctional Facility in Tiffin after he pleaded guilty to violating the terms and conditions of his community control.

Gottfried pleaded guilty to possession of drugs in 2014 and was placed in the Prosecutor’s Diversion Program. He failed to complete the program and was placed on five years of community control in May 2019.

According to probation officer Eric Bohach, Gottfried had an encounter with the Galion EMS on October 24 which resulted in a positive test for amphetamines and methamphetamines.

Leuthold told Gottfried, “You must complete this program. If you don’t then I will send you to prison.”

Johnathon Alsept, 25, of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to one count of permitting drug abuse and one count of possession of drugs, each fifth-degree felonies and each punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

Leuthold sentenced Alsept to five years of community control. He must receive drug and alcohol treatment and forfeit all drug-related property to the appropriate authorities.

“You gotta behave yourself. Your probation officer (Kylie Sinclair), is a nice person but she’s not going to put up with any of your nonsense,” Leuthold said.

Stephen Brazo IV, 37, of Galion pleaded guilty to one count of receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

Before sentencing Brazo, Leuthold asked him if he had anything to say. Brazo addressed the court.

“I did the crime, Your Honor, and I don’t want to see my Dad sittin’ in jail for the same crime. It’s breaking my heart.”

Leuthold sentenced Brazo to a flat six months in prison. He will receive 63 days of jail time credit. Assistant Prosecutor Ryan Hoovler told the court he is reviewing the charges against Brazo’s father for possible dismissal.
