BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Kenneth Hablitzel, a 39-year-old resident of Bucyrus, appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday facing additional charges, bringing his total to 19 felonies. Among these, 11 charges are classified as intimidation.

Hablitzel has been in custody since June 27, charged with three counts of rape, two counts of gross sexual imposition, one count of conveying drugs into a detention facility, one count of drug trafficking, and one count of tampering with evidence.

The recent indictment includes 11 counts of intimidating witnesses or attempting to intimidate, all are classified as third-degree felonies with each punishable with up to 18 months in prison.

Hablitzel allegedly made threats against attorneys, law enforcement officials, and prosecutors involved in his case.

Crawford County Prosecutor Matt Crall emphasized the seriousness of these threats, telling Crawford County Now: “The County Prosecutor’s Office takes threats made to all parties involved in the judicial system very seriously. Whether it is a judge, a prosecutor, a defense attorney, a witness, or a law enforcement officer… threatening those who seek to effectuate justice cannot be tolerated.” Crall said.

In response to the new charges, Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold increased Hablitzel’s bond to $350,000.

Hablitzel remains in the Crawford County Jail.
