BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A Crawford County jury has found Brian Phillip Caldwell of Bucyrus guilty of multiple drug-related charges.

The two-day trial was presided over by Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold.

The jury, comprised of nine women and three men, convicted Caldwell on charges including aggravated trafficking and illegal manufacture of methamphetamine.

The charges against Caldwell include aggravated trafficking in drugs (meth) with a potential sentence of 11-16.5 years in prison, illegal manufacture of drugs (meth) with a potential sentence of 8-12 years in prison, and several other counts of aggravated drug trafficking. The maximum potential sentence for Caldwell is 66 to 94.5 years in prison.

The case against Caldwell began on February 4, 2024, when Deputy Kissling Aaron Kissling stopped a vehicle driven by Caldwell and discovered approximately 224.29 grams of methamphetamine.

Further investigation by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office led to additional trafficking charges.

County Prosecutor Matthew Crall praised Assistant Prosecutor Dan Stanley for his work in investigating the case and presenting the evidence to the jury.

Testimony during the trial was provided by Major Chad Filliater, Lt. Detective Craig Moser, Detective Tyler Winkelman, and Officer Dave Rowland, all from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

Caldwell will be sentenced at a later date by Judge Sean Leuthold in Common Pleas Court.
