A Bucyrus man was killed in a two-vehicle automobile accident Saturday afternoon in Marion County.

Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 1:18 p.m. on Saturday on U.S. 23 at the intersection of C.R. 195 (Linn Hipsher Road) in Marion County.

The crash involved a gray 2008 Mazda Tribute driven by Helen Ritter, 46, of Delaware and a tan 2006 Honda Accord driven by Frances M. Reiter, 79, of Bucyrus. The Mazda had two passengers, Matt Ritter, 37, and Ellie Hall, 4, also of Delaware. The Honda had one passenger, Edward Reiter, 80, of Bucyrus.

The Mazda was traveling north on U.S. 23 when the Honda pulled from the center median area to cross the northbound lanes. The Mazda struck the Honda directly in the passenger side of the vehicle spinning the Mazda around and forcing the Honda off the northeast corner of the roadway into the ditch.

The occupants of the Mazda were transported from the scene to Marion General Hospital by Marion Township Fire and EMS. Mrs. Reiter was transported to OSU Medical Center by MedFlight and Mr. Reiter was transported to Marion General Hospital by First Consolidated Fire and EMS.

Mr. Reiter was pronounced deceased at Marion General Hospital by Dr. Gaber. Assisting at the scene were: Marion Township Fire and EMS, First Consolidated Fire and EMS, 1st Advanced EMS, Salt Rock Fire Department, and B & B Towing. No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
