BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A traffic stop on Hopley Avenue led to the arrest of a local man for drug-related offenses late on the evening of October 29.

Officer Wireman observed a black Jaguar sedan parked in the 200 block of Hopley Avenue around 8:41 PM, and recognized the driver, Micheal Lawhun, as someone with a suspended driver’s license.

Officer Wireman noted suspicious activity as a male on a bicycle was seen interacting with the occupant of the vehicle. Believing illegal activity was occurring, the officer initiated a stop and made contact with Lawhun.

During the encounter, Lawhun admitted to possessing suspected methamphetamine, leading to his arrest. Two bags of the substance were found in his pocket.

Further investigation was conducted with the assistance of K9 Capone, who indicated a narcotic odor emanating from the vehicle.

Following a search performed by Lt. Keegan, an additional bag containing suspected methamphetamine was discovered on the front passenger seat.

Additionally, while being processed at the Crawford County Justice Center, a folded dollar bill containing more suspected methamphetamine was found in Lawhun’s wallet.

In total, approximately 12 grams of suspected methamphetamine were seized from Lawhun, who is now facing serious charges including possession of Schedule I or II drugs and trafficking in drugs.

The case has been forwarded to the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for further review.
