BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Gary Wayne Gallant, 53, of Bucyrus made an appearance in the Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Monday for a Pretrial hearing. Gallant, who is currently being held in the Crawford County Jail on a $250,000 bond, is facing 26 various drug trafficking counts as well as charges of having weapons under disability.
During the court proceedings, Gallant discussed a motion he filed to represent himself and to seek a personal recognizance bond. The charges against Gallant stem from a felony narcotics search warrant executed at 117 Fisher St. in Bucyrus.
Despite requesting to represent himself, Gallant is currently being represented by court-appointed attorney Tom Nicholson.
In a letter to the court, Gallant explained that he has Peyronie’s Disease. He requested a personal recognizance bond to seek medical treatment outside of the jail.
However, Judge Sean Leuthold clarified that Gallant’s bond was set based on constitutional facts and would not be reduced. Instead, he instructed Gallant to have Attorney Nicholson prepare a motion asking the court for permission to receive treatment outside the jail.
Gallant’s trial date has been rescheduled for August 12, 2024. Crawford County Now will continue to follow this developing story.
