BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Bucyrus Little Theatre (BLT), a beloved cornerstone of arts and culture in Crawford County since 1951, invites the community to a special free event celebrating its 75th anniversary and unveiling the highly anticipated 2026-27 season on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the theatre located at 130 Songer Ave.
This milestone celebration recognizes 75 years of dedicated performers, volunteers, and artists bringing great stories to local stages. In honor of the anniversary, BLT has received official commendations from both State Representative Riordan McClain, Ohio State House of Representatives, and State Senator Bill Reineke, Ohio State Senate. Additionally, the Crawford County Commissioners will issue a proclamation recognizing the theatre on April 9.
“We are thrilled to mark this incredible milestone and share our exciting plans for the upcoming season with our community,” said Abigail Kanellakis, president of Bucyrus Little Theatre’s Board of Directors. “This event is our way of thanking everyone who has supported live theatre in Bucyrus for three-quarters of a century and inviting new friends to join our family.”
The afternoon will feature:
- A ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Bucyrus Chamber of Commerce to kick off the 75th anniversary milestone.
- A special historical video presentation highlighting BLT’s rich 75-year legacy, created with historian and master set designer Tom Etzinger using archival photos, programs, and stories.
- Light refreshments and a cash bar (offering beer, malted beverages, and non-alcoholic options).
- A panel discussion with directors of the 2026-27 season shows, including a lively Q&A session moderated by No Small Parts podcast host Scott Leon Smith. Audience members can ask questions about the new productions and get details on everything from family appropriateness to content.
- A special sneak peek musical performance from the cast of the upcoming production of Mamma Mia!
Attendees are encouraged to dress in semi-formal attire for this celebratory occasion. The event will have a fun, interactive atmosphere with opportunities to mingle, enjoy lobby video displays of past productions on multiple monitors and the new projector screen, and learn more about becoming a BLT member or supporter.
Space is limited to approximately 230 guests. The public is strongly encouraged to RSVP by end of day Tuesday, April 1, 2026. RSVPs can be made in three easy ways:
