Every year in the fall, students at Bucyrus High School gear up for the annual Homecoming festivities. And this year is no exception with a full slate of activities for students and the community.
Activities kicked off with a Homecoming Assembly Oct. 2 for students in grades 9-12. During the assembly, the ten Homecoming candidates were introduced and five will be selected for the Homecoming Court by the senior class. The 2013 Bucyrus Homecoming Queen will be announced prior to kickoff of the varsity football game Oct. 11 against Upper Sandusky.
“The students have opportunities to get involved in Homecoming week in so many ways,” Girls Boosters advisor Beth Constantine said. “We have students decorating storefronts, making signs for the pregame ceremony, designing the tickets for the dance and selling them during lunches, and lining up chaperones. It’s great to see students taking on all of these responsibilities and getting into the spirit of what Homecoming is all about!”
A Community Pep Rally will be held at the Bucyrus High School Athletic Complex at 7:00 p.m. Oct. 9. During the rally, all middle and high school fall sports teams will be introduced and the winners of the window-decorating competition will be announced.
“Our student groups are excited to decorate storefronts, our athletes and cheerleaders are looking forward to our community pep rally, and everyone is excited for the dance Saturday,” Secondary School Principal Mark Burke said. “School spirit is at its highest during homecoming week and we hope our community will get involved in the celebration!”
The Homecoming festivities will conclude with the annual Bucyrus Homecoming Dance Oct. 12 in the Bucyrus High School gymnasium.
