Bucyrus high school open for shelter from derailment

Residents within one mile of a train derailment in Bucyrus have been ordered to evacuate due to a potential hydrochloric acid leak, while Bucyrus High School has opened as an emergency shelter.

BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—UPDATE: The Bucyrus High School, 90” West Perry Street is now open as a shelter for anyone needing a safe place to stay while the situation is handled.

There has been a train derailment in the area of Whetstone Street and Auto Avenue. This is at the roadway.

Residents in the area within 1 mile of this location are requested to evacuate the area until further notice.

THREAT ISSUE: There is a potential tanker car leaking hydrochloric chloric acid and there is a possibility for explosion.

Emergency Crews are on scene and working to mitigate the situation.
