A familiar name will be this year’s keynote speaker at the annual Memorial Day ceremonies in Bucyrus. United States Air Force Major Kevin Stanley will be back in Bucyrus on Monday.

Stanley is a 1984 Bucyrus High School graduate and son of John Stanley, retired captain with the Bucyrus Police Department. Stanley is an assistant professor of Aerospace Science at the Air Force ROTC at the Ohio State University. Stanley’s record of military service includes several bases in the United States and overseas, including a tour of duty at Kabul Afghanistan.

This year’s parade marshal will be another Bucyrus graduate, Eleanor Miller, Class of 1940. Boyd Long will be the master of ceremonies. The parade will begin at Washington Square and 9 a.m. Monday and head to Oakwood Cemetery.

The program will be held there at the Lemert Memorial. If the grounds are too wet it will be moved to the columbarium. If it is raining the parade will be cancelled and the program moved indoors at the Bucyrus Elementary School.
