BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The members of Bucyrus Firefighters IAFF Local 1120 have unanimously issued a vote of no confidence in Fire Chief Chad Schwemlry, citing what they describe as a “continued lack of support” regarding safety standards and staffing levels.
Members of IAFF Local 1120 announced the vote Wednesday, alleging that under Schwemlry’s leadership, the department has failed to maintain updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required by national safety standards. The union further claims that recent reductions in on-duty staffing have compromised the department’s operational readiness and put both firefighters and the public at risk.
