The Bucyrus Fire Department responded to a garage fire on Wiley Street Friday afternoon.
According to Lt. Ryan Sparks, no one was home at the time the department arrived at 112 Wiley St.
Most of the fire damage occurred in the attached garage, though some of it extended into the home. Sparks said the cause was still unknown. The fire department was also able to use its thermal imaging camera to see the heat in the walls, which helps the firefighters cut down on the damage they need to do to the walls.
No other details about the fire were available.
The thermal imaging camera was donated to the Bucyrus Fire Department by Ohio Mutual Insurance Group during the department’s annual Spooktacular event this past October. The new camera was added to one the insurance company supplied to the fire department in 2000.
