BUCYRUS – The new owner of a downtown eatery is hoping for a “smooth” transition when he takes over the business Friday.

Jeremy Roberts is buying Fit Fab Fun, a smoothie and juice bar at 209 S. Sandusky Ave., from Diana Shroll.

Roberts also owns Special Moments – a bridal, prom, and tux shop next door.

“We certainly love Bucyrus downtown and we didn’t want to see the store leave,” said Roberts. “We’re pretty much keeping it as it has been. There’s not going to be a whole lot of change for the customers.”

Roberts, who has hired Marissa Hamilton to manage Fit Fab Fun, said many employees have agreed to stay on. Although the menu will remain the same, he said hours may be extended to also include Saturdays.

Fit Fab Fun, which opened four years ago, specializes in fresh fruit smoothies in flavors such as “Tropical M,” “Peachy Keen,” and “My Main Squeeze,” but it also serves wraps, tacos, and a variety of rice bowls.

The business at first was to be a retirement gig for Shroll, who now has decided to become a full-time grandmother after being blessed with three grandchildren and four “bonus” grandkids since opening the shop.

“It’s just gotten to be too much. I had to choose, and they won,” Shroll said in explaining her decision to look for a buyer.
“When those little babies look and say ‘gammy,’ I’m all over that.”

Shroll admitted the decision is bittersweet. “I’m gonna’ miss the employees. We literally are a family. But I have been blessed with this business and truly appreciate the support over the last four years. It’s been fun.”
