Bucyrus Police Chief David Koepke believes a drug bust Wednesday afternoon not only took heroin and alleged drug traffickers off the local streets, but that those involved provided the drugs that led to recent overdoses in town.
Officers from the Bucyrus and Galion police departments as well as the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and METRICH executed a search warrant at 902 Maple Street shortly before 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.
Four people were arrested – three men and one woman. Three of the four are Bucyrus residents while the fourth is from Galion.
Police seized 11 grams of heroin, cash and paraphernalia.
Three are facing felony drug-related charges expected to include engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, drug trafficking and child endangerment. Two children were present in the house at the time and the Crawford County Department of Children’s Services was called.
The fourth individual was arrested as a result of outstanding warrants. The four are expected to appear in Crawford county Municipal Court on Friday for the filing of formal charges. Their names will be released at that time.
In an unrelated arrest, Bucyrus police assisted the U.S. Marshal’s Office in the apprehension of a man in the 200 block of Songer Avenue earlier Wednesday morning. That individual was wanted on an outstanding warrant for drug-related offenses.
