BUCYRUS―A Bucyrus couple has found a way to help others during the sub-zero weather that has gripped the area.
Deb Pinion, who retired a few years ago from her position as the executive director of the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce, and her husband Roger, braved the extremely cold weather on Wednesday to do something to help those in need.

“Roger and I took three pairs of socks, three coats, three pairs of gloves and three warm scarfs and tied them to the poles and bushes in Millennium Park,” said Deb of the park located on Washington Square in the center of Bucyrus.
Deb said she and Roger almost froze during the task.
“But it warmed our hearts to do something to help others,” said Deb, who tied notes with the garments to inform people to take them if they need them.

Deb and Roger are challenging others to do the same thing or something similar.
“I challenge others to go through their closets and do the same,” said Deb.
According to Eliza Cole, director of BORN (Bucyrus Outreach and Restoration Network), her agency assists about 100 people each year throughout Crawford County that are homeless through local law enforcement agencies and others along with people that come in on their own for help. Crawford County is only one of two counties in the state of Ohio without a homeless shelter.
Throughout the current cold weather, the Bucyrus Fire Department is available as a warming station and will get people in contact with BORN or the Bucyrus Police Department to secure a warm place to stay.
The fire department is located at 223 E. Mansfield St. and BORN can be reached at (419) 557-4550.
