The Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an accident Monday afternoon in which the traffic signal was not working.
The accident at the intersection of state routes 309 and 98 involved vehicles driven by 73-year-old Ralph Chambers of Bucyrus and 24-year-old Shawna Moore of Marion. The report from the State Highway Patrol indicates the traffic signal was not working at the time of the accident due to a power outage.
The vehicle Chambers was operating was northbound on 98 while Moore’s vehicle was westbound on 309. Moore’s vehicle struck the Chamber’s car in the intersection.
Moore, Chambers and his passenger – 78-year-old Mattie Chambers – were all taken to Marion General Hospital and then transferred to Grant Hospital in Columbus. Moore and Mattie Chambers were flown by MedFlight while Ralph Chambers was taken by ambulance.
There was no further information regarding their conditions or the extent of their injuries.
No charges have been filed and the Patrol is continuing its investigation.
