It may have taken two special meetings but the Bucyrus City Council finally passed its legislation it had sitting on the agenda for the past few weeks.
At last Wednesday’s Bucyrus City Council meeting, the council was unable to pass the eight pieces of legislation on the agenda due to a lack of members present. Council members Richard Rockwell, Bruce Truka and John Walker had been absent.
Another special City Council meeting was held Monday afternoon to handle those pieces of legislation. Most of the legislation was voted through unanimously with the exception of two ordinances concerning manpower.
Ordinance 25-2014, which repealed Ordinance 46-2013 and replaced it with new legislation concerning the compensation, sick leave, and vacation for non-union supervisors, had been held to a first reading on July 1 and had been held to a second reading on July 15. Ordinance 29-2014, which amended Section 8 of Ordinance 25-2014, had also been held to a first reading on July 15. Both ordinances passed on a 5 – 1 vote. Councilman Walker was the lone dissenter for the votes.
Council passed the following pieces unanimously:
• Ordinance 30-2014: creating a new fund subparagraph category and line item in CDBG 2013
• Ordinance 31-2014: various appropriations
• Ordinance 32-2014: repeal Ordinance 26-2014 line creation in CDBG 2011 and create line item in CDBG 2011 fund
• Ordinance 33-2014: repeal Ordinance 27-2014 appropriation in CDBG 2011 fund and appropriate in CDBG 2011 fund
• Ordinance 34-2014: plan of operation and governance for gas aggregation
• Resolution 219-2014: agreement to provide safety forces and clean-up for the 2014 Bratwurst Festival
Upon questioning by Walker, Mayor Jeff Reser said the city may spray for mosquitos again within a week or two due to Monday and Tuesday’s thunderstorms.
