BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) – The Bucyrus City Council has voted to draft emergency legislation that will empower Safety Service Director Tommy Starner to solicit bids and enter into a contract for the extension of water service from State Route 4 south of Bucyrus and then east along Mt. Zion Road.
During the committee meeting, Starner revealed that recent project completions came in under budget, resulting in a surplus of $270,000 in funds provided by the county. He stated that the water service extension project is fully prepared to proceed and expressed optimism, noting that he has spoken with several potential users in the area who are eager to receive water services.
In response to Starner’s update, Councilman Kevin Myers proposed a motion to draft the emergency legislation. The committee unanimously agreed to authorize Starner to seek bids and enter into a contract for the project, with the total cost not to exceed $270,000. Law Director Gobrecht will prepare the legislation. Importantly, the entire project will be funded by county dollars, ensuring no additional burden on the city’s budget.
The council’s action marks a significant step towards improving water access for residents in the area, paving the way for enhanced services and infrastructure.
