BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Bucyrus City Council convened last Monday evening for special committee meetings to discuss the possibility of acquiring the building adjacent to the Bucyrus Fire Department.
The building, currently housing the SK8 Factory, was formerly the YMCA. Situated right next to the fire department, acquiring the property would effectively double the size of the existing fire department and provide various spacing options.
Listed for $160,000 with Katona Realty, the city aims to negotiate a lower price of $105,000 for the building. Additionally, the city plans to offer a $100,000 donation receipt to the seller as part of the agreement. Funding for the acquisition may come, in part, from the anticipated sale of other city-owned real estate.
During the meeting, the Finance Committee voted to present plans for the sale of the north end fire station at a price of $262,000. Pending full council approval, bids will be solicited for the property known as the alley behind Wendy’s with an opening bid of $40,000. Three smaller parcels of land west of Wendy’s will also be collectively put up for sale with a minimum bid of $40,000.
The Public Lands and Buildings Committee, along with the Finance Committee, collaborated on developing the sales plans, which will be presented to the full council for final implementation. Crawford County Now will provide further updates on these potential property transactions as they become available.
