The Bucyrus City Board of Control may have opened only one bid for the 2016 Mill and Pave project Wednesday, but it was a pretty significant one.

Bucyrus Road Materials submitted a bid of $760,920.15, well under the approximated $867,000 for the project. The company also listed three alternate bids for separate projects: $34,700 for paving at the Friendship Bridge, $18,860 for paving the waste water treatment plant drive, and $27,233.75 for paving the bike path.

The 2016 Mill and Pave project will cover the following roads: Mansfield Street from Whetstone to the eastern corporation line, Auto Avenue and Penn Avenue, Mary Street from the bridge to Poplar Street, Dudley Street from Sandusky Avenue to Dunn Street, Whetstone Street, Woodlawn Avenue from Whetstone Street to McKinley Avenue, East Street from Oakwood Avenue to Hopley Avenue, Prospect Street from Hopley Avenue to Southern Avenue, and Sears Street from Mansfield Street to Mary Street.

The Board of Control scheduled a meeting for 1:45 p.m. on May 23 to award the bid. A representative from Bucyrus Road Materials said he expected the project to begin quickly.
