Press release

The Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its upcoming move to 117 E. Mansfield Street. The Chamber will be open at its new location effective June 1, 2017.

The Chamber’s new location is also home to the The Crawford County Education and Economic Development Partnership, including Crawford: 20/20 Vision and Crawford Works. The organizations will remain separate entities, led by independent Boards of Directors.

Tyler Jacobs, Executive Director of the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce, says that the move will foster increased collaboration and supports the Chamber’s recently updated mission to “bridge business and community.”

“At the Chamber, we’re deeply committed to our members and our community,” said Jacobs. “By sharing space with the Partnership, the Chamber can contribute even more effectively to supporting local businesses and advocating for economic development for our members and our community. Our new office is also conveniently located next to the ‘Great American Crossroad’ mural and Millennium Park.”

Gary Frankhouse, Executive and Economic Development Director at the Partnership, agreed, adding that both the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce and the Galion-Crestline Chamber of Commerce contribute to business success in the county community.

“The Chambers of Commerce in Crawford County play a very important role in strengthening our business community and, at the Partnership, we are fortunate to synergize with both organizations,” said Frankhouse. “We are thrilled to share a venue with the Bucyrus Chamber because it will allow us to support one another more directly. We also work very closely with the Galion-Crestline Chamber and will continue to support their efforts as well through the collaboration they extend to the Partnership with the use of their facility.”

The 117 E. Mansfield Street building was renovated in 2013 with help from the Crawford County Commissioners and the Timken Foundation. Since that time, other organizations have shared space with the Partnership including BORN, Crawford Works, Crawford County Mentoring Program, the Crawford Success Center and Congressman Jordan’s office.

Jacobs says it’s important to note that the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, emphasizing that the Chamber is not a government-owned agency. The Chamber does not receive any funding from city or county government. Jacobs says the transition of location will not impact the Chamber’s operations or current structure.

“Our priority is the community and the business owners, employees, and entrepreneurs that we serve,” said Jacobs. “While our physical location is changing, our mission and purpose remain unchanged. We will continue to operate under the direction of our Board, which is comprised of business people and leaders in our community who represent our members. We are excited for the future of the Chamber of Commerce, the future of Bucyrus, and the future of Crawford County.”

Frankhouse said that the Partnership is equally enthusiastic about the move.

“Having the Chamber here permanently is exciting because it will allow us to have a larger impact in connecting business to community, which will enhance our economic development and community development efforts,” Frankhouse added.

From May 22 through May 31, the Bucyrus Chamber will be transitioning to its new office, so accessibility may be temporarily limited. Jacobs is available at any time via email at tyler@bucyrusohio.com. The Chamber will continue to operate throughout the move.

The Chamber plans to have an open house celebration for its new location in June. For more information about the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce, visit www.bucyrusohio.com.
