Greg White, Candidate for Bucyrus City Council President
Dear Bucyrus Citizens, I am currently on the November Election ballot for City Council President, and this is my second time running for this office. I have no party affiliation and am running as a nonpartisan candidate. I currently live on Hillcrest Drive, married for over 25 years, a Veteran that served 30.5 years inthe United State Air Force and currenting still volunteering in the Fire Service for over 45 years. Was appointed by Mayor Truka as a civilian to serve on the The Bucyrus City Planning Commission until December 31, 2025. Donated my time two years ago, in a door-to-door fundraiser for the Bucyrus Pool Free Days of Swimming. Volunteer for a drive-thru food pantry in Wyandot County and assisting in the food drive for the Diamond Wipes employees. My Oath to the Constitution of the United States and the State of Ohio is important to me. My goals are simple for the Council President, run the City Council Meetings in a proper manner, according to the rules that are in place. To be up front with every issue and let the council members do their duties. That the truth is being told to all citizens and residents of this community on every issue. Make sure that all Committee Chairmen are doing the duties assigned to them and that reports are being done on time. That legislation is done in a timely manner and without errors. That new council rules are in place without delay. Key issues are introduced and discussed in open meetings with the public (except when executive sessions need to take place). That the public is not afraid to speak to council, and that nothing will be held against them for their constitutional rights. To vote on tiebreakers in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the city.
On Budgeting priorities, that is all Council members, That is one of their major goals that needs done and/or changed if need be. It is the Finance Committee to bring to full council this issue. However, the current council members didn’t want this out to the public. This can not happen, and the public has the right to review this. The bad thing is, the current council makes a new budget for 2026, good news is that the new council can change that budget as needed. What council approves or changes, the city shall follow. As Council President, I want everything to be known about the budget and will vote in a tiebreaker, to benefit the residents of this community.
Attracting Business to Bucyrus, First of all, the Wastewater Treatment Plant needs to get done. This has been going on since 2010 and the can keeps getting kicked down the road. Next, the City’s own water lines need to be replaced to offer the best service to the residents. The Out-of-town lines need to be sold and the debt needs paid off and that money needs to replace existing bad lines within the city. Next Job Training needs to be implemented to train workers for good paying jobs. Next Transportation, the city needs to find ways of getting workers to and from businesses, along with Child Care Services for these workers. You need both of these to work together, or it will never happen. Housing must also take a major part of this, affordable housing must be seriously brought to the table. I have several ideas on these issues, but others like to steal your ideas and say that they own them.
Collaboration and Communication, this is very simple. Put all Public Records on line for everyone to look at. If we can spend $30,000 + on the income tax office, the city can pay to have all records available to review. Records at your fingertips, just like the state. We need to stop shaming people who come to redress their government or ask questions about this city. And the fact that council members need to come together in the best interest of the residents and not personal agendas. I believe that Council and Committee Meetings need to change the dates and times so that more people can attend. Open meetings with Council members need to take place, and when Town hall meetings take place, it is the reason why it was called for. I would like to have two meetings per month with the residents of Bucyrus, answer questions and give them information on things that affect them. Use the local media on issues that residents need to know about. Up-front communications with the community is the best policy on everything. I ask for your vote this November for Bucyrus Council President,
Thank you, Greg White 1125 Hillcrest Drive Bucyrus, Ohio 44820
Bucyrus City resident Alena Fox submitted her bid as a write in candidate for Bucyrus City Council At-Large. She wrote the following statement:
Vision Statement for Alena T. Fox Write-In Candidate for Bucyrus City Council At-Large
Vision Statement
As a proud member of the Bucyrus community and a passionate advocate for its future, I, Alena T. Fox, am seeking your support as a write-in candidate for the Bucyrus City Council At-Large seat. My vision is rooted in transparency, inclusiveness, and continual improvement for all Bucyrus residents.
Budgeting Priorities: If elected, what are my priorities for the city’s approach to budgeting issues?
As your city council representative, I will prioritize responsible budgeting and transparent decision-making. I have previously met with Bucyrus Auditor Ms. Kali Lewis and am committed to ensuring that public funds are used efficiently and effectively, with open communication about how and why resources are allocated. I am in favor of writing grants for help in funding our safety forces, economic programs and beneficial city improvements.
I want to bring back the income tax credit to those working out-of-town taxpayers by lobbying the Governor, Representatives, and Treasurer of the State of Ohio for re-instating fiscal support to municipalities by using the “Rainy Day Fund” –totaling billions of dollars that Ohio Taxpayers have contributed to for years. The “Rainy Day Fund” should be used to enable cities like Bucyrus to recover from the “economic storms” brought upon us by pandemic and manufacturing losses, allowing us to rebuild and recover.
Attracting Business: What are my thoughts or ideas to attract new business to the city, and what barriers to economic development do I perceive?
Bucyrus deserves a dynamic local economy that provides opportunities for all. I will work to attract new businesses, support our existing small enterprises, and promote workforce development. By encouraging innovation and collaboration, I aim to build a resilient economy that benefits every resident. Bucyrus City Schools “Bucyrus Rising” Program is an example of how we can build for a brighter future, educating the youth in our schools to fill the jobs of tomorrow right here in Bucyrus, Ohio. From educating drone pilots, robotics engineers, manufacturing associates, entrepreneurs, and future parents, Bucyrus City Schools are focused on meeting the needs of entrepreneurs and employees. We as Bucyrus City Council can support that vision by welcoming employers through incentives designed to ensure their fiscal success. The Crawford County Community Foundation, Crawford County Chamber of Commerce, and Visitor’s Bureau provide the innovative leadership support efforts to further the growth of businesses in our city; City Council can work to provide legislation, utility services, and tax incentives to further that growth potential. Barriers to this effort would be fiscal and possible uncooperative leaders.
Collaboration and Communication: How do I plan to work with other members of Council to achieve common goals, and how will I communicate plans to constituents?
Progress happens when we work together. As I have for years, I will continue to build partnerships across the city—with residents, businesses, schools, and organizations—to solve challenges and seize opportunities. I will advocate for initiatives that improve public safety, support affordable housing, and enhance quality of life. My vision includes investing in parks, public spaces, and infrastructure that make Bucyrus a welcoming place for families, seniors, and young people alike.
My vision is for Bucyrus to be a city where everyone has a stake in our shared success. I have met with and am acquainted with several City Department, Police, and Fire leaders; I believe that open lines of communication and respect for them will enable a successful working relationship to continue.
I believe the strength of Bucyrus lies in its people. I am committed to fostering meaningful dialogue between council members and citizens, ensuring that every voice is heard and every concern is addressed. My goal is to make city government more accessible, responsive, and accountable to those it serves. I encourage you to attend Bucyrus City Council and/or Committee meetings as an interested citizen; meeting dates are published as public record on Bucyrus City Council’s web page. For those unable to do so, I can be reached via email at: writefoxinthebox@gmail.com or on Facebook Messenger at: Alena T. Fox.
To do this, I need your help. Together, we can make Bucyrus a place where everyone feels empowered, valued, and proud to call home. I need you to “Believe in Bucyrus” just as Mayor Roger Moore did; on Election Day, write in Alena T. Fox for Bucyrus City Council At-Large.
