The Bucyrus Board of Education kicked off the 2016 year Tuesday night with their annual organizational meeting.
Re-elected members Dr. Paul Johnson, Doug Schiefer, Adam Stone, and Traci Wetterau were sworn in for their new terms. Brad Murtiff was nominated and approved as the board’s president for the 2016 year with Doug Schiefer being selected as the board’s vice president.
Once the officers for the board were sworn in, Stone was selected to be the Legislative Liaison and Johnson was appointed as the student achievement representative. Both Murtiff and Scheifer were selected as Athletic Council representatives. Wetterau was selected to handle the Wellness Committee representative position.
After the positions were delegated the Bucyrus School Board approved all items on the agenda including scheduling the Bucyrus Board of Education meetings to take place at 7 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month unless otherwise noted.
Board members also approved authorizing Superintendent Kevin Kimmel as the purchasing agent for the school district, authorizing the superintendent to accept resignations, and authorizing Kimmel as the district’s director of Federal and State Grants. Kimmel was also named Equal Opportunity compliance officer .
Treasurer Ryan Cook was approved as the district’s public record compliance officer for the 2016 fiscal year. Cook was also authorized to request advance payments of taxes collected from the Crawford County Auditor, invest interim funds in accordance with the State Auditor’s Compliace policy, pay all bills subsequent to board approval, and transfer funds with board approval.
The next regular meeting of the Bucyrus Board of Education will take place at 8 a.m. on Jan. 23 at the Lincoln Administrative Center. A work session is scheduled to follow the meeting.
